Mayo Spur

John McCutcheon
What was the purpose of the Mayo Spur was it for local mining, lumber operations or was it for set outs for doubling the hill (Boras Pass) ,

The Wilmington Mayonaise Mine & Mill operated there from 1888 to 1904.

Re: Mayo Spur

The closest mine is probably the Juanita, but the spur is on the wrong side of the RoW and about 300 yards too far East.

(The Mayo tunnel, oddly enough, is part of the Puzzle mine complex on the other side of Nigger Hill and Illinois Gulch.  It’s primary recovery point was the Willard tunnel, which was served by the Puzzle spur.)

Cheers,
Jeff.
