Jimmy Blouch
I thought I would post this map for discussion.

It is currently being offered by Railroad Memories Auction

I saw that, and was a bit confused. It seems to say that this was finished by the D&RG in October 1881 with the D&RG making it all the way to Breckenridge, but the chronology in Wilkin's "Colorado Railroads" shows the D&RG not reaching Dillon for another year (November 11, 1882) - about the same time the DSP&P reached Dillon through Breckenridge - and the D&RG, and not going farther toward Breckenridge.

I used to have a map of the D&RG in Eureka Gulch, which they never reached, but the title clearly identified it a proposed route.

Yes, I do not understand the complete date myself.
Located line is not constructed line.

Of interest I saw what is referred to as "abandoned line" from Frisco to what became known as Dickey.
Apparently there was a previous survey from Frisco to Breckenridge and now, this map shows the "new" located line
from Frisco over the ridge to Dickey and from there a wye, with one line to Breckenridge and the other to Dillon.
North of Breckenridge the survey seems to parallel a DSP&P surveyed line.

The D&RG did do some grade work going south from Dillon toward Breckenridge, but was not completed.

It seems most of these lines are what eventually became the DSP&P constructed lines, or very close.

Jimmy

The Tracking Ghost Railroads in Colorado book by Robert Ormes(1980 reprint issue) had an entry with maps of the D&RG's attempt at grading down the Blue, North of Dillon.

I believe the dates June-October are the survey dates and November is the date of the map.

That's probably correct, but it's strange that they use the word "BUILT" rather than "SURVEYED" or even "COMPLETED" if it was just completion of a survey.
