Leadville Team Tracks (Ore Docks)

Keith Hayes
Seems like forever since I've been down to the man cave. I wrapped up the taxes, and figured I deserved a break.

Mineral Belt Volume I has some neat pics of some team tracks in Leadville. These were on the D&RG, but what the heck.  The photos show some massive wood platforms between parallel tracks. The tracks are parallel to the contours, so that the downhill track is a bit lower such that a wagon is even with the top of the car for easy shoveling. This is a good spot for both LCL loads of ore going out and LCL loads of coal coming in.

I got a good start on the upper platform today. It will be a great place to display the 4-horse ore wagon. We shall see how much wood this model eats up.

Keith,

If you look at my File Map of Leadville S35B, you can see the Ore Docks to the Northeast of the Depot.

If you can't find them on the .pdf file, e-mail me and I'll send you the map in a different format.

Thanks, Rick.

I see them. I only modeled two of the four tracks at the C&S depot, and the east most track is really a yard and team track. I guess now that you mention it, I can consign cars of coal in there and ore out.

Keith,

I'm amazed at the progress you and your "little people" achieve. The only thing that has stopped you was the edge of your Sn3 world. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.

Well Lee, the Narrow Gauge Convention is coming! I am trying to make enough progress to make things presentable. Plus, if Leadville is sufficiently finished, it is a good excuse to move on to Climax and on to Dickey, or Breck--whatever will occupy the shelf under Leadville.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

Keith,

I'm planning on attending and am looking forward to visiting your layout. I appreciate the amount of work required and the commitment involved for an open house. Take care and best wishes.
