Help dating a photo of Dickey

Jeff Young
I found another instance of a harp stand that I'd like to catalog (the one behind the pump house, not the one across from the water tank which appears in other shots).  Trouble is I don't have a clue what date this picture is (other than "early", based on the waycar).  Can anyone help?

Cheers,
Jeff.

Well, ...  the Breckenridge branch wasn't extended toward Frisco (finished ?) until 1884, so it post-dates '84.
When did the way cars get cupolas ?

Out of curiosity, is the photo at the top of the main page with 71 leading two other locomotives through the dredge piles, .... is that taken between Dickey and Breckenridge, or between Dickey and Frisco ?

Between Dickey and Breck.  Those engines were left at Dickey at abandonment; the picture is about a year later when #71 and #69 were hauling the dead #8 to Como.

(The picture of Gold Pan trestle I posted a couple of days ago is actually of the same movement, but without the two coal cars which were last seen in the train at Breckenridge. (CRRM #12))

Must be before C&S times as there is no second enginehouse and the water tank has not been rebuilt with a flat roof. I we only knew where Dickeys first enginehouse was located before being moved to Como in 1893? Was the second enginehouse in the same location as the first? I so this image would be between 1893-1900? Love the metal conical roof on the water tank.

I ran across this photo in Sandra F. Mather's Frisco and the Ten Mile Canon:

The photographer had trouble holding the camera straight, but the Dickey section house is pretty well captured.  It seems to be painted in a solid dark scheme, so I'm guessing that it might be a contemporary of Jeff's photo above, likely mid to late 1890s. No dogs, but several kids.

No attribution or date in the book, but likely from The Frisco Historic Park & Museum, Mather's collaborator on her books.  Jeff's title photo also comes from the museum.

As an aside, the proportions of the 1 1/2 story section house look to be the same (although in mirror image) as the log section house at Curtin that we are discussing:

Interesting, it does look to be the same design as at Curtin.

I believe it is the C&S (or DSP&P?) standard. The design is the same as at Boreas, and I must build one for Leadville at some point. The drawing is under files on the main page.

Actually, Keith, the C&S section house plans in "Files" are different structures.

But our moderator, in one of his earliest blog posts, included a photo that showed one of his famous foam core mock-ups of the section house at Dickey: http://coloradosouthern.blogspot.com/2012/11/fun-with-foam_13.html

Perhaps Darel can tell us where he obtained the plans.

Colorado Railroad Structures Vol-1 1987 by Russ Collman & Klass Gunnink, has a set of plans of the log Boreas Sectionhouse drawn by Maynard Rorman with fieldwork by Klass Gunnink.  These were obviously done from the pre-restoration existing structure and show no Veranda or Porch roof.  I doubt there was any reference to the original in old photographs as I'd think they would have added that.
