Georgetown Depot Post Abandonment

Kurt Maechner
Had some friends in town who once lived in Colorado.  They remarked that they often ate at the Alpine Inn Restaurant in Georgetown.  This is in the former C&S depot.  I wrote an article a while ago for the Bogies and the Loop about the depot's post abandonment history.  I recently posted it online here.

Here was an attempt at a before and after photo I took sometime during the 1990s.

Here is the station today:

(This my first posting with a photo.  Sorry the pics are so big!  Not sure how to go back and resize them).

In my attempt at resizing, I succeeded at that but then hit "Post" instead of "Preview" while trying to delete my duplicate photo.  Sorry!

Not to worry. Great pics, thanks for posting. I haven't seen that depot in ages.

The only way to figure out the process of posting pictures is to actually try it, and it's a bit tricky.

Does anybody remember the German live steamer that was "liberated" by some GI at the end of WW2 that was on display in the depot in the 1990s?

For a time Lindsey Ashby's El Salvador 2-8-0 #40 (44?) was in the parking lot with the ex RGS caboose #400.  I never knew about any other equipment there.  JP
