Wasn't quite sure what to title this- Rob Bell who models the White Pass and I have been engaged in a little bit of conversation in where equipment was held between when the narrow gauge lines were scrapped and when the White Pass got the equipment in 1943. The White Pass got 69, 70 and caboose 1003 and 1005. I find it interesting that those were used by the scrapper. They also got about 170 steel framed cars and 10 wood framed flats (possibly cut down stockcars) I am assuming that the steel framed cars came from Leadville when that was standard gauged in 43. I wonder when they were doing scrapping operations on the Clear Creek and Waterton sections did they convey the equipment to the scrapper too? It is interesting that they got the engines and cabooses used by the scrapper as well as some wood framed flats that could have been as well. If not was the equipment held in Denver? I realize that this may be a bit of a black hole as railroad photography was limited during the war and the equipment was acquired for the White Pass through the Army so info would be limited. Has anyone heard any info?
