Early C&S in Platte Canyon

The print isn't very sharp and I can't make out either loco number but from the domes on the first one and the cab sides of the second I think they're both Cooke 2-8-0s. It's probably 1899 or 1900 because the locos don't yet have air tanks on top of their boilers but the second car is clearly lettered for C&S.

Great photo. Where did you find it?
Does the tender of the second engine look like it is angled downward toward the locomotive?

Yes, the sloping tenders were very common, to help water level on grades in very low water situations. Also to assist when the tanks had to be cleaned out. Muck, scaling, etc. Both of these tenders slope.
