Earl Lintz and the three legged Dog

Don Gustavson II
In a couple of threads there is a picture of a train wreck in witch Buddy Schwartz passed away.
In the picture is the young boy named Earl Lintz, and what appears to be a three legged dog  named Denver.

It has been said that the dog lived in Como.

Just wanted to know if there was any other info out there on Earl and more specifically the three legged Dog?

I am contemplating breaking out some clay and trying to make the dog. It may turn out looking like a furry bugger on my layout, but it would be fun to try. The picture above is plenty to go on.
HOn3 is the path I have chosen.
The Nearly Historical Railroad.
