D&RG 26' California Fruit Line car

Loggerhead
Looking for information on the trucks that were put under the D&RG California Fruit Line car no. 3572. Were they J&S or D&RG psngr trucks and what size, 52" or 60"

Hi Loggerhead --

You may be fishing in the wrong stream to get info here on a D&RG car!  I'm no expert, but those who ARE seem to differ on the trucks.  Dr. Sloan's book ("A Century + Ten...") says they were J&S 4'4" trucks under these cars; Dr. Stears' excellent drawing (NG&SLG, Jul/Aug '14) shows them as 5' D&RG trucks.  Take your pick.

I agree this isn't the best place to hunt for this info. But I do happen to have a copy of Trails Among the Columbine 1990 (it has info on the Parlins connection between the D&RG and DSP&P, and some other info) and I remember this photo at Shawano:

D&RG Fruit Express

Maybe someone here has a clearer copy? It's credited to CRRM, maybe give them a call?

Picture of Marshall Pass is in the DPL, and much clearer than those previously posted on this inquiry here and there.

Thanks to all for the info. Looking at avail photos and reading avail documentation, have figured out the truck question. The pic shows 2 sets of leaf springs. The 5' D&RG has 3 sets where the J&S 4' 4" has the 2 sets as shown. Now the question, were these rebuilds by D&RG or not, not critical.

FYI Guys, Bob Sloan gave me his original artwork for the lettering on the sides of the car.

Such a fantastic argument for modeling the 1880s!
