Como Wye

Tim Schreiner
Saw this picture on Facebook. The only photo I have ever seen showing the track east of Como with the first switch, and track heading toward King coal mining camp.

Great picture!

Interesting to note the D&RGW-style flag on the harp stand.  The Silica derail harp stand is the same.  Were the double-diamond flags less common than conventional wisdom would suggest?

Cheers,
Jeff.

Jeff,

I've been able to get better dating timelines for the Elliot switchstands (not that the two hints towards this got any replies), so I would be now leaning towards a change of Targets on Harps from the doublediamond, to the solid rectangle with rounded corners to standardize with the Elliot.  Those Targets would be quicker for the Tinshop to make as well.

An aside to that: The Rotary stands which are made up of castings that are synonymous with the D&RG(W) Elliot switchstands but because of the shape of the lower Baseplate, may in fact be of BUDA manufacture.   There was an Elliot at the CRRM in Golden labled as C&S.  This may be an error in documentation or the C&S may have had both types, who knows. Unfortunately I can no longer access my images of that particular switchstand documented back in '92 to reaffirm this.   More to come later on this.

The difference Jeff, is the Baseplate.  I have continued this in your  other thread Modelling Elliot SwitchStands.
