I seek some help here please.
The platform for the Oil house measured 2,172 square ft. The building itself measured 6 x 11ft.
Why such a huge platform for such a small shed?
The Depot platform was only slightly larger at 2,410sq ft.
Logically, the oil room would be near the engine house. Where is the platform?
Could this be it here underneath that pile of rubble south side of the water tank?
The best level grounds for a railroad and it is No Man's Land virtually.
So think about this. Early reports were that the Ice House and the PO were north side of the depot. And current understanding does not accomodate that.
But picture the the first Como Depot was located on this platform if it was one. It appears to be a platform given the retaining wall. It would have had a bypass each side of the tank. I don't know but the tank looks as if it may have had a spout each side.
Then, the location of the engine house makes common sense. With a lead to the turntable from each end of the depot.
This seems to make sense to me. And it takes away the mystery of the Como yarding. And right underneath the town centre too as I am confident that it was already there. Center. I know, forgive me.
Someone set me straight here. I'm mature enough to handle it. Where was the Oil Room Platform?
