CRRM Article in WILD WEST Magazine-DSP&P 191 Photo

The June 2017 issue of WILD WEST magazine has a two page article about the CRRM complete with a large color photo of DSP&P 191.It has some background on the founding of the museum and some discription of what is on display.

No,it was from the other side and included the whole locomotive and tender-And the 3 window D&RG caboose.When I looked at the panel under the cab window it was labeled DL&G-wouldn't that be anacronistic for an engine with a Congdon stack?Are there any photos of post 1889 engines with the cab  labled that  way?

Exactly, Congdon stacks were obsolete by 1886. When I tried to research and influence the finish scheme for 191 at CRRM., I overheard in the roundhouse that I needed to "get a life". Also note that 191 has a C&NW locomotive brake setup, carefully restored of course . I also pushed for a planished boiler jacket, similar to Russian Iron but the powers that be said DSP&P boiler jackets looked black even though the technology of paint didn't exist at the time (or magnesium lagging), which didn't come to the UP or D&RG until 1897-1898.
