Searching for more Dillon photos (Summit Historical Society page) and stumbled upon this photo of activity at the Breckenridge Depot, that I've never seen before:

Nice picture there, lots of activity of the old ways going on,  nothing like the buzz of a busy station around "train time", all gone now.

Recognize the depot? According to the Valuation Report Field Notes, Dillon and Breckenridge were mirror images of each other.

They were both DSP&P built.

Odd L-C-L freight being handled.  

The guy at the left frame seems to have a set of bed springs.  The shipment to the right of the boxcar seems to be two large baskets of some sort.

I find models of bed springs to be as illusive as scale sand and cattle guards!

I'm talking about models.

Your photo was taken near Riverview. Cattle Guards were everywhere. So was traction sand. On the real railroads - not so much on layouts.

This photo was also taken at Riverview.

Ever notice how popular little picket fences were in Platte Canyon.  Seems every depot had some around it, and Dome Rock siding and station seem completely surrounded by the stuff.  In your photo, even the cattle guard has a piece of white-washed picket fence. Derrell's photo of Riverview has an entire field of something or other surrounded by it.

As an aside, perhaps Bill Meredith could photo etch some S scale bedsprings for us, with all his free time (sarc).
