While revisiting some details of the Gregory-Buell Mill in Gregory Gulch, which I touched on in the Box Culvert thread http://c-sn3-discussion-forum.41377.n7.nabble.com/Box-culverts-tp2262p2647.html  I found this somewhat blurry photo showing an early day freight movement on the Switchback.

I can't ever remember seeing any pure Freight trains on the Switchback before, the photos of derailed #13 being the only exception and that wasn't in operation.  Judging from the position of the Loco on the downhill end of the Train, no crew visible on the platform and the majority of trains operated the Switchback with the Loco in this position I'd say that this Freight should be headed to Blackhawk more likely than being pushed up to Central.

The Cupola-less Bobber is an even better find: has anyone seen another photo with a Caboose on the Switchbacks?

Chris, Chris, Chris . . . how do you find all these priceless photos hiding in the all DPL pixels??

This is a great find, as photos of C&S waycars, before the 1908 rebuilding, are rare as hen's teeth. At least I think it is early C&S:  The locomotive has at least one air tank on top of the boiler, maybe two. Can't tell for sure, the stack could be straight or a McConnell pancake stack obscured by smoke. If I squint real hard at the fuzzy waycar, I think I can make out an empty link-in-pin coupler on the end of the car.

I would guess c1900-1902 as a date--anyone else have an idea??  (According to the DPL descriptor, this is an 1880s view by Otto Roach, taken between 1935 and 1941)
