I found the following update on the Alma depot:
From Bob Schoppe in the most recent B&L:
At the Frisco convention I mentioned that I had a recent conversation with Harley Hamilton of the South Park City Museum. He informed me that they recently had taken possession of the Alma depot and planned to move it to the museum and restore. In September museum volunteers began to prep the depot for the move to Fairplay but found that the depot's condition was much worse than thought and that it would have to be dissembled to be moved with much more repair work required before reassembly could be completed. This was estimated to add at least an additional $20,000 to the original expense, well beyond their budget. They found that there were originally three 16-inch logs running along the length of the building that served as the "foundation". They were just about completely gone. IN additional of the floor joists that rested on the logs were rotten, water had crept up the inside of the walls and into the roof, all of which had also rotted. They found that the ground under the depots was surprisingly wet, especially after a very dry summer. Apparently, the water table there is very near the surface. And so, unfortunately, at this time there are no plans to move and restore the Alma/London Junction depot.
Perhaps this could be a new DSP&PHS restoration project? In my DSP&P pipe-dream world I though the Alma depot would have a useful purpose in the distant future at the proposed goal of the end of track of reconstruction going on in Como at the wye near HWY 285.
