Accidental Research Discovery Part Four: Off Topic.

I had always wondered about the location of this Brisbois photograph.....and the Shafthouse in the foreground; the valley in the rear looked very much like that of the Arkansas reaching up to Fremont Pass.



I had been looking closely at the DPL's 1890 map  Right of way, D.&R.G.R.R., from Malta to Leadville, M.P. 272.5 to M.P. 278.8 but the location didn't exist.  However a Siding did by that time, put in to remove the Slagdumps for reprocessing.

It took a perusal of Jimmy Blouch's earlier 1883 D&RG Map (middle image; far right)

to find the actual location, but the Mine name still isn't confirmed.  The same image (00751pl) is in the Lake County Library collection but is listed as Unidentified Mine.
Jimmy's map has the Chrysolite Branch pencilled in.

An all out search of the newspapers revealed the following.  The sale and subsequent name change to Fryer Hill Smelter also clouded the search.
