1976 C&S news (1) - Otto Perry on Boreas Pass, caboose in Buena Vista

Kurt Maechner
I looked through the archive of the Rocky Mountain Rail Report, the newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club, and put a post together with some more miscellaneous South Park Line/C&Sng news from the 1976 editions including:

Poor's DSP&P Reprint
The newsletter posted a number of updates on the progress being made on the first reprint of M.C. Poor's seminal book Denver, South Park & Pacific

Otto Perry on Boreas Pass

Some details are shared about Otto Perry movies shown at the RMRRC meeting including Perry's film covering his and Ed Haley's drive over the ties on Boreas Pass.  Does anyone know the whereabouts of this film??

Caboose in Buena Vista

If you have visited the old South Park Buena Vista depot you have also seen the standard gauge caboose on display.  The newsletter explains how it got there (long before the depot's move and restoration).

Double-header out of Silver Plume
A brief note is made regarding a double-header on the early rebuilt section of the Georgetown Loop

Enjoy!

Here's a good mystery I'm hoping someone might solve: The Rocky Mountain Rail Report mentioned a planned double-header steam trip planned for September 11, 1976, but the Loop only had No. 44 on site at this time.  IRCA No. 40 wouldn't come to the Loop until 1977.  Does anyone know if this double-header actually occurred and with what engines?  My guess is that there was a tentative plan to bring No. 40 earlier, but it didn't happen-that's just my guess.  If anyone knows more, please fill us in!

Outing on the Georgetown Loop took place on August 28, 1976.

Nothing during September and no double header

For a $5.00 pass unlimited rides behind engine 44.
The High Bridge had not yet been completed.
As a result, at that time, rides were only on the completed section.
