I looked through the archive of the Rocky Mountain Rail Report, the newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club and put
a post together with some more miscellaneous South Park Line/C&Sng news from the 1974 editions including:
The Georgetown Loop electrified?Apparently there was a rumor that the Loop was going to test out electrification of its line. Outside of this there was a great deal of work done this year including ballast work.
Does anyone know the background of this rumor?
DSP&P reprintDespite the resistance for many years to reprinting M.C. Poor's monumental work DSP&P, the Club finally decides to print a Memorial Edition.
New engine and cars come to the Georgetown LoopA former Oahu Railway/Camino Cable & Northern diesel and some cars comes to the infant Georgetown Loop.
Track to Blackhawk and Central City on TVThe Central City Narrow Gauge tourist route plans to build toward Blackhawk. Also, a TV special starring the band Chicago is set to film on the railroad, including C&S combine No. 20.
Has anyone seen this above TV special?
Did they actually use C&S No. 20 in a train?
...or was it just stationary?
Enjoy!
