1962 C&S News - Argentine engineer, 641's last run, Denver Roundhouse, Westall monument TLC

Kurt Maechner
I looked through the archive of the Rocky Mountain Rail Report, the newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club and put a post together with some miscellaneous South Park Line/C&Sng news from the 1962 editions including:

Announcement of the death of a former conductor and engineer on the Argentine Central, the line that ran out of Silver Plume.

Background on the C&S roundhouse in Denver and its sad remaining state in 1962.

News on the last run of C&S standard gauge No. 641 over the former narrow gauge Leadville to Climax run (the last vestige of the South Park Line), the last regularly scheduled steam engine on a Class I railroad, and the plans to put her on display next to the C&S Leadville depot.

The Rocky Mountain Railroad Club's work to restore the monument to Billy Westall who died when he stayed with his Denver, Leadville & Gunnison train after it hit a wash in in South Platte Canyon.

Enjoy,
Kurt
