1893 UPD&G/DL&G Inventories

Dave Eggleston
This post was updated on .
I'm pulling together the data to add pre-C&S information to the timeline sticky's equipment section.

To do this project justice I am seeking an important document, the October 13 1893 DL&G and UPD&G Inventory. I don't have this and have an ask: If you have access to the Inventory would you willing to scan and share the equipment pages, specifically those related to locos and cars?

This is related to fleshing out some equipment questions, not the least being the post-1889 transfer of cars to Colorado from the KC and U&N. Every document helps and I feel the 1893 Inventory could add insights to, or confirm, other (skimpy) data I have.

Thanks in advance for help on this!

FYI, the timeline will cover 1874 to 1897 and is based on the UP Annual Reports (1884-1897), the 1885 Renumbering listing, the 1887 US Ry Commission Report, the 1889 Equipment Inventory, ORER info (1885, 1890-1907), Poor's, period newspapers and the DSP&P "Boston" journal. I've researched and gathered AT&SF info and impact during its brief CO narrow gauge period, as well as D&RG equipment use and interchange in 1879 and 1880. I lean heavily on Ron Rudnick's fantastic guides for comparisons and insights. And all the well-known books.

Once it's together I'll post on a thread in the forum for input and questions.

Dave, I'm not sure what you want.
I have a UPD&G Receivership Car equipment dated 10/31/03, it lists no individual freight car numbers, also with it a list of passenger cars, car numbers, length and capacity
Also a statement of locomotives belonging to the UPD&G and their condition 12/4/93
On the DL&G side
Statement of Inventory and conditions of engines 8/8/94
Several sheets, inventory of Midnight 8/7/94
From Receiver Frank Trumbull listing cars destroyed

Ron,

I'll admit I wasn't sure, either. There are several references in books and forum postings to 1894 as a date locomotives were noted vacated or other activity was noted for the rolling stock. Connecting the few dots pointed to inventories taken around 1893-1894, clearly related to the change from UP to Trumbull receivership. What you've mentioned seem to be the sources for some of those book/forum references.

The DL&G documents are definitely of interest, the inventory and condition of engines, the inventory and the listing of cars destroyed. This may is a big ask, is there a chance these could be copied? Or photographed and emailed? Happy to reimburse you completely for this.

Thanks,

Thanks Ron! Let me know what I owe you.

I have a selection of ORERs/OREGs from 1890 to 1907 with one exception: Oct 1893. Do you have that one? It is the month where the renumbering of KC cars picked up by the DLG and UPd&G are noted as about to happen--per your Modeling Guide.

Dave

I have a 1894 issue which is the same.
Package is in the mail.  No need to send any money, copying costs and postage was less than $5
Besides some of the pages were shared with me by others
Glad to help

Thanks so much, Ron.

I do have something I'll send in return that I'm not sure you have and hopefully will be interesting to you.
